Take a Taxi

Taking taxi is a convenient choice. There is an indicator lamp stating 'TAXI' on top of the taxi. Fare must be paid in RMB cash. For your reference, the initiate rate is RMB 5(including 3 km); RMB1.2/km (between 3-8 km); RMB1.8/km (when reaching or exceeding 8km); moreover, the price would mark up by 10% at night. From Weihai or Yantai Airport to Weihai downtown, it might cost about RMB 150.

Most taxi drivers cannot speak or understand English. It is recommended to write your destination and address in Chinese or telephone number of the destination so that you can show it to the taxi driver. Contact your hotel in advance to get your hotel name and address in Chinese before your departure or ask for help at the hotel concierge.

Please ask for receipt before getting off for complaint when necessary.

Currency

The Chinese currency is called Renminbi (RMB) and the unit is called YUAN.

Yuan: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100

Jiao: 1, 2, 5

Fen: 1, 2, 5

(1 Yuan= 10 Jiao= 100 Fen)

Electrical Outlets and Voltage

Keep in mind that no matter what type of plug an outlet might accept, voltage in China is 220V 50 Hz.  Electrical outlets in China (see picture) can accept the standard flat as the following pictures.
